“For we which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus’ sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh.” (II Corinthians 4: 8-12)
The world is full of many strange things.
Various religions demonstrate their powers through levitation, bizarre physical abilities, appearances of disembodied forms and many other apparitions that are shockingly real.
The question is, “What is the origin of this power?” Is it from power drawn from within these mystics, gurus and shamans?
Some teach that this is power which is latent within man. That is resides in all people but lies unharnessed by most. Others believe it comes from a source outside of man.
The Bible teaches that these manifestations are the workings of demonic entities attempting to deceive these mystics and those who follow them.
I have listened to many sermons and studied many articles and books about Old and New Testament textual history.
One of the things that continually puzzles me is why many supposed experts believe that written biblical texts were not created until the time of Moses. That, until then, the words of God were only passed by word of mouth for the thousands of years since Adam.
How does that make any sense?

One evening recently, my wife and I went to the local drive-in theatre. It has been a tradition for us to get there at least once every summer. It’s always a double-feature. So you are bound to get one good movie out of the experience.
And, if you are fortunate, have a nice evening under the stars. Which we did.
The movie was Christopher Robin. Which is the re-uniting of Winnie the Pooh and his friends with a grown-up Christopher Robin. It was very well done.
Without going into the details of the film, let me just say what really moved me. It was the relationship between Robin and Pooh. The deep love between a talking, stuffed animal and a man.
The innocence of the relationship between Christopher and Pooh caused me think about the nature of heaven. Of the innocence and purity that awaits us there. Of the joy, the beauty and intimacy we will know with the Lord and with each other.
In the synagogue, Jesus stood up and read from the book of Isaiah saying, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.” (Luke 4: 14-30)
A few things to note here:
- Jesus read from the written words of God.
- He accepted these as the correct words of God.
- He demonstrated that these words were the pure, accurate, specific words passed down from the pen of Isaiah.
- He demonstrated His confidence in the way that the words of God were presented and maintained.
- He believed in the perfect preservation of the Old Testament.
Since writing The Fallacy of Biblical Criticism: Part 1, I’ve given a great deal of thought to how to proceed on this issue.
My concern is not with the foundation of my belief but with how to honestly approach this so that the reader gains more than my own personal cheerleading effort to promote the Textus Receptus and the KJV.

“There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.” (Hebrews 4:9)
One of the greatest moments of my life was when I first discovered the reality of God’s Rest for the believer.
This occurred about 6 years after I first trusted Christ. This was that wonderful moment when I first experienced the joyful reality of Christ as my Sanctification.
“O, very young, what will you leave us this time?” (Cat Stevens)
None of us will become any more enlightened than the sources we seek for truth. Nor will we become any more wise than those whom we trust to tell us the truth.
Trust is a choice.
We’ve talked about this before. Nothing new here.
But it keeps coming back to me. Like a wild call, deep in the forest, that continues to echo back through the hills and the canyons.
It is blatantly obvious that a vast segment of the American public has chosen to follow the popular media as their source for truth. Much of this country has checked their collective brains and souls at the door; freely giving a relatively small group of elitists control over their future.
