Perfect Preservation: Part 4 – Conclusion

Psalm 138 Image

Devoted But Misguided

There are groups of dedicated believers who teach that a translation, specifically the King James Version, is Inspired. Yet, the Bible does not teach that Inspiration applies to a Translation. Of all the good that should be said of the King James Bible, and so much can, it was not Inspired.

However, I believe no other Translation is as accurate as the King James. I also love it and am grateful for the amazing process that God used to give it to the English-speaking peoples. And there is no other Translation that I would recommend for a person to read.

Perfect Preservation: Part 3 – Thoughts or Words?

If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?” (Psalm 11:3)

The church must be warned about the teaching of Thought Preservation.

This is an error that has been consistently pushed within both Evangelical and Fundamental universities which rejects the doctrine of the word-for-word preservation of scripture.

This thinking promotes the belief that perfect, word-for-word inspiration took place in the originals (the autographs); while also claiming that those same, exact words were lost in the copies.

It also promotes the idea that only God’s thoughts were preserved in the copies! Some say that the “essence of truth” has been preserved — but not the words.

Which means, that the Lord was only concerned with Preserving His actual written words, and punctuation in the originals.

Perfect Preservation: Part 1 – Foundation

Ocean View

It is necessary to speak again about a very critical issue.

We absolutely must understand how God gave us His words.

If we don’t clearly understand this, we will not be able to identify what is God’s word and what is not. Which leaves us at the whim of every popular “scholar” telling us that the words we have believed are not correct; or that they do not mean (in the original language) what we think they mean.

Nor will we be able defend the gospel as men continually challenge the accuracy and authority of God’s words — destroying the foundation of our faith.

The Principle of Progressive Light

Lake Sunrise Dark and Light

There is much talk these days among Christian leaders regarding the “wideness of God’s mercy”.

This thinking flows from a trend in teaching and preaching that muddies the waters of the gospel by changing God’s requirements for salvation.

According to this thinking, one is able to worship and believe just about anything and still have a pretty good chance to make it to the “pearly gates”. As if God doesn’t really care what you believe doctrinally or what you think spiritually; but only what the condition of your heart is.

Which is a very slippery slope — a silicon-coated slide covered with grease.
