Most people do not delve deeply into the events of the world. They are too busy.

Or they just trust select sources to give them what the truth is. To tell them what is happening.

And what to think.

Others delve more deeply. They may care more and want to be sure of what is true.

Yet, they make the same mistakes as the first group. They trust a limited group of sources to tell them what is happening.

And what to believe.

The second group makes the basic mistake of obtaining their “truth” based upon popular consensus. In other words, they choose those sources which they believe are reputable and proven.

Whatever “reputable” and “proven” mean anymore.

Then they gather 20 sources, for example, which tell them the same thing in 20 different ways.

Because, for all practical purposes, the philosophical bent of those 20 sources is the same. They all agree on the same things. They just use a different style and presentation.

The idea that all of these sources represent intelligent, informed, highly-trained men and women arriving at the same conclusions, by independent means, is an illusion. It is not real.

What actually IS Real is that we have what could be called “truth by consensus”. Or truth by popular consent.

The Myth of Objectivity

What is not openly admitted is that the popular consensus of these sources is based on some spiritual and cultural bias. A bias which directly affects the political views being promoted.

All of these things are interlocked. Each one affecting the other.

A liberal, progressive bent in a news organization will produce a liberal, progressive presentation of the “news”. It is unavoidable.

A perfect example of this in the art, film, and music industries. The philosophy and religious beliefs of an artist or writer or filmmaker are expressed in their work. There is no way to avoid this.

But for some reason, we have convinced ourselves that objectivity miraculously exists in journalism. That journalists are not subject to bias like the rest of us.

And that’s not really the end of it. Because every journalist is paid by someone. And that someone is ultimately the owner of the company who is paying for the broadcasting or printing of the news.

Bottom line: the owner of a company directly controls what is being presented as the news. That is what is driving “truth” as presented by that company.

This happens regardless of how the rest of us dumb schmucks view any specific journalist corporation. We just insist on believing that they operate in some pure, magical state of objectivity. Regardless of how hard an individual journalist may try to present the unadulterated, unembellished “facts”.

Objectivity simply does not exist. Not in the real world.

Our Beliefs Are Reflected in Our Work

As a Further Example: a major Hollywood film costs way too much to simply make a movie without reflecting the beliefs of the producers, the film company, and the director. Too much time spent. Too much money spent. Therefore, their views and beliefs will be carefully built into the work.

They are not simply doing stuff to make money. There is far more at stake than that.

And they do this either right in front of our faces or through subtlety – very craftily influencing us without our picking up on what they are laying down.

Because in film, they are generally creating fantastic worlds out of their imagination. Building an entire reality on the theatre or TV screen.

With smoke and mirrors. Literally.

Disney is a good example of a company that has gotten into big trouble financially in recent years because they’ve forgotten who’s been buying all their stuff. And they’ve decided to preach their woke philosophies to those customers who are actually willing to pay for the privilege to be so indoctrinated!

But the company behind the Mouse is not the same good, wholesome, family-loving company that Walt built. They have a new message, a new belief system, and a whole new agenda.

Which includes their becoming the consummate virtue signalers.

And yet, somehow, we still buy their stuff while they continue to preach to us!

Go figure.

It’s stupidity on both sides. Stupid because they think they are getting away with it. And stupid because we let them.

But hey, they can do what they want. It’s a free country.

But we are also free not to buy their stuff or support their agenda.

The Reality-Creation Business

The news has gone the same route. It has become the reality-creation business. Most popular journalists no longer even pretend to follow journalistic rules. Because they are now in the propaganda business.

And we buy into it. We let them get away with it. We foolishly believe the crap they are shoveling.

All because 90 out of 100 of them are saying the same thing. As if that is how truth is established.

And we just continue to believe that all those journalists and corporations would never, ever tell us something that isn’t true.

And so, we allow them to create our social, political, and spiritual reality for us.
