Peace monkey

I hear this a lot today. It is a very popular saying.

It is common to hear a brother in Christ say how he “does not want to die on some doctrinal hill”.

AS IF there is some danger of that anywhere today.

Very few leaders in the mainstream Evangelical church have ever had to face such a terrible death. Nor have they been willing to suffer for defending the faith.

Nor have most of the members of our local Evangelical churches ever been in any such terrible danger.

Because most are too busy tripping over each other while running away from the battle for truth.

Because most of my brothers and sisters in Christ are “lovers … not fighters”.

It’s actually kind of humorous to hear such talk these days.

It’s kind of like listening to the mainstream media when they come out with some phrase or word to describe something in the news. When, out of the blue, they all start using the same word like “gravitas” or “deplorable” or whatever has suddenly popped into the minds of everyone in the mainstream liberal nedia.

As if, they all arrived at the same conclusion. Even to the point of describing a person or event with the same word or phrase. All because of their own deep, independent thinking and research.

Right.

No. Someone is controlling them. Controlling what they say. And controlling what they think. And controlling what they don’t say. And controlling what they don’t say.

A Mainstream Christian Narrative

And mainstream Christians are no different.

They are being manipulated by a mainstream Christian narrative that is steeped in biblical compromise. Which pushes an agenda that is not based on truth.

This takes place because most believers are not noble like the Bereans (Acts 17:11). They don’t double check what their pastors or their favorite authors are saying. They don’t want to know if anything might be unbiblical.

Instead, they swallow what they are fed. Which causes them to doubt their convictions on important spiritual truth.

A “Kind Orthodoxy”

But it does, however, make them feel good because they have conformed to the outward “unity” of their church. Because they are more “service” oriented and loving.

And because their theology becomes more open minded, more thoughtful, more tolerant.

Creating a kinder and more gentle orthodoxy. A list of convictions that avoids talking about “absolute” truth.

The end result is that, because of all this mushy-ness over biblical truth, the enemy is winning the battle in our churches. As we see our leaders laying aside their swords. They are refusing to use “the sword of the Spirit” to discern truth from error.

They are refusing to fight the good fight of faith with the word of God alone.

They are refusing to stand firmly and boldly with the sword of the Spirit of God.

Cursed be he that doeth the work of the LORD deceitfully, and cursed be he that keepeth back his sword from blood.” (Jeremiah 48:10)
