Now, I realize that any one of us can get off base. Seriously, any of us can wander off the path and into the swamp. It is foolish to drive a stake in the ground before we’ve done a proper surveyor’s job. We need to be sure of what we believe before we open our mouths.
That takes study, prayer and growing in the Lord.
So, I am aware that avoiding pride and self delusion demands constant vigilance.
But there is this growing trend among Christians which is cautioning us to not be too sure of our convictions. As if, having and expressing deep beliefs is a sign of arrogance and pride.
Because that is, supposedly, not a “humble” thing to do.
There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown. (Genesis 6:1-4)

These are the Last Days.
Back in 1972 when I became a Christian, I didn’t think too much about the importance of translations. At least not in the sense of whether they were accurate or not. I was just hungry for the Word and would read whatever was available.
“But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.“ (Galatians 4:4,5)
“Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. We love him because he first loved us.” (I John 4: 17-19)
My local church is doing a series of sermons this Christmas season on Joy. As in “Joy to the world, the Lord is come; let earth receive her King!”
