Ringling Rose

By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible. (Hebrews 11:27)

There are times when the continued unbelief of the world becomes hard to bear. Men are becoming more and more aggressive in trying to silence any mention of the gospel, of Christ, of the Bible and of truth. And morality has been turned upside down by the creation of laws that now threaten the most basic of Biblical moral standards.

But it occurred to me that the world is simply blinded. They are in darkness. They have rejected the light and embraced the darkness.

And they do this because they do not see Him who is invisible. To them, this is all about religious beliefs. One religion against another. One person’s god against another god. One man’s moral code against another’s.

The One God That Cares For You

But, the reality is, that this is about a personal God; not about an impersonal religion. About a God that wants to know men intimately. To love them, fellowship with them, prepare them for an eternity that is wonderful beyond all imagination. To bring them to a wondrous, secure eternal inheritance.

This is not a god seeking men to blow themselves up and kill others in his name. This is not a god that rules by fear and compulsion. This is not a god that brings torture, inquisition, jihad or some other form of terror to the people he seeks to bring to himself. This is not a god that delights in the pain of men or who wants men to worship him without true contact and fellowship.

Jesus Christ is all that men have ever truly needed. Most don’t know this. Most never will. Most in the world have never known Him. Most have settled for a religious organization and have placed their “faith” in its claims. All The false security it promised. All the false hopes for a salvation they will never know.

The Source of the Wondrous

To illustrate this, think of movies like Star Wars or The Lord of the Rings or any film that presents amazing landscapes, wondrous worlds, dazzling mountains and forests with beauty indescribable. Where do you think this basic longing we have for such worlds comes from? Is it just pure fantasy created by great imaginations? Is this just the product of brain chemistry in evolved animals who have created their own gods and religions out of nothing?

I don’t think so.

We each have a sense of all that life can be. We know instinctively what is right and wrong. We know when we are in a work environment or situation that is not right. When we are treated badly, we know that this is not the way things should be. When we are not respected or loved as we should be, we know something is wrong. We KNOW there is something better.

The Things Which God Hath Prepared

And we have this unspeakable groaning within ourselves for something wonderful. Some place with life that is more amazing than any film or book could ever be. More beautiful than any painting could ever depict.

This comes from God. This is what Christ is. This is Who He is in His person. He is, in Himself, all that every soul needs. And He wants to manifest Himself to every one of us. He wants us to love Him and see Him in all the beauty and majesty that He possesses.

So when you watch that movie, read that book, look deeply into that painting or are stirred by the music of an orchestra, know that you are experiencing a taste of who Christ is. A tiny slice of what He has prepared for all those who trust Him.

For it pleased the Father that in him should all fullness dwell . . . (Colossians 1:19)
