Who Do You Pray To?

Woman Meditation Colors

What are people into today?

A short list includes Tarot, general “Meditation”, Spiritual Disciplines, Walking Labyrinths, Consulting Psychics, searching inwardly for one’s “higher power”, looking for a “spirit guide”, or engaging in some trendy Contemplative Spirituality technique.

Which even the Evangelicals are wanting to try out today.

Or maybe they’re praying to Mary, to “the saints”, to angels, or to whomever. Or maybe just praying to some other “dead guy”. Who, supposedly, is able to help them in this life and the next.

Instead of praying directly to and exclusively to Jesus Christ.

“For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;” (I Timothy 2:5)

To pray to or seek help from someone other than the Lord Jesus is an incredibly great error.

Which is often the result of believing in some neutral spiritual world? As if there are only benign and good “spirits” out there. That only want to do good things for us.

However, Satan and his evil spirits continually watch and move around seeking whom they may deceive, oppress, possess, or devour. Even attacking those who call themselves “Christian”.

What this all adds up to is that most people today are basically serving themselves up as a full-course meal for whatever demonic entity has been sizing them up.

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:” (I Peter 5:8)

The End of “So-Called” Tolerance

Thumbs Down Tie Dye

In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes.” (Judges 21:25)

Our Postmodern, Post-Christian society thinks that they are unique, intellectual, and thoughtful. And that they are loving and tolerant of all things.

Except, of course, when it comes to having any tolerance for biblical faithfulness.

But, in reality, Postmodernism is simply an ancient idea packaged for consumption by a new generation of wicked men and women.

Seeking after the Stillness: Contemplative Prayer Part 1

Lilly Cloud Reflections

“Be still, and know that I am God:” (Psalm 46:10)

I recently finished one of the most important Christian books I’ve ever read.

It’s called, A Time of Departing, by Ray Yungen. You can find this book on the LighthouseTrails.com website. Check out that site for a host of research on important Christian topics.

Mr. Yungen’s book deals with the Contemplative Prayer movement. If you are not familiar with this growing practice, you should be. We all should be.

In the next few posts I’ll deal with some extremely valuable aspects of this book that I hope will help you to make sense of this new movement. Since we all, as Christians, are strangers and pilgrims in this world. This very strange world.

In a nutshell, he makes a very solid case regarding the dangers of a practice that is spreading like wildfire throughout the religious world — including within Evangelical circles. This practice is being promoted by some very well-know leaders not normally associated with unbiblical practices. In the book you’ll discover the chilling details.

Contemplative Prayer is a spiritual technique that is, for all practical purposes, an Eastern mystical discipline re-packaged for the undiscerning Christian. It is wrapped in all the language and lingo that would attract the seeker of a deeper relationship with God. But it is nothing more than New Age and Eastern occultism masquerading as Christian meditation.

Breathing Eternal Air

Pond Windmill Mist

“But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” (Matthew 4:4)

We need our daily bread and we need the Bread of Life.

We need our daily water and we need the Living Water.

We are spiritual beings requiring more than physical nourishment. We need supernatural food in order to live supernatural lives.
