Universal Reconciliation is a False Gospel

It seems like the re-definition of every major biblical doctrine is in full swing.

Every word, every doctrine, every major part of the gospel is being deconstructed today.

Just go onto YouTube and look up any major, fundamental truth of scripture. There you will find a host of men, women, theologians, pastors, writers, and whoever telling us that what the Bible says is not correct.

Or let’s put it another way, they say that our understanding of the gospel of salvation or the character of Jesus Christ or the historical record of the Bible is not correct in the way that we’ve been taught. That the true gospel has been lost over time.

And that everyone will eventually be saved after all. Or is already saved!!

But they just don’t know it yet!!!???

To Love in the Truth

“The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth; and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth: for the truth’s sake, which dwelleth in us, and shall be with us for ever.” (II John 1:1-2)

The Evangelical church is known for its emphasis on “love”. Whatever love may mean.

Emphasizing whatever popular Humanistic and Progressive concepts about love that the Christian academics are feeding the leadership of our local churches. As they call Christians to be activists and socially-engaged Christians.

All in the name of “love. 

And, while that observation may sound cynical, the reality is, there is no real way to define love.

Along with that emphasis on love is a great resistance to place any boundaries or limits on what love actually allows us to do. And not do.

Instead, love has become a kind of excuse that is used whenever there is any argument that involves truth or doctrine.

Love is used as an excuse to shut down any debate or concern over whether we are teaching and believing what the Bible actually says. Whether we are truly following the specific things Jesus actually taught us to believe.

The Pride of Life: Annihilationism – Part 3

“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.” (I John 2: 15-16)

I have seldom heard “the pride of life” explained in a sermon. Yet, it provides a critical clue toward unraveling the mystery of eternal life.

This “pride of life” indicates that every man takes pride in his own existence.

What strikes me is how foundational this idea is to understanding our modern culture. Constantly we are told that people need to be good to themselves. To express themselves. To know themselves. To love themselves.

In reality, men have no trouble loving themselves. In stark contrast to all the self-esteem propaganda that children are subjected to from earliest childhood, the apostle Paul, had something quite different to say about this love of self.
