The Lord’s Priority: Conclusion – Separated Unto Christ

Spider across web strand

What is the most underlying, common problem with the New Evangelical and Progressive Christian movements?

The answer is disobedience to God’s Word.

And one of the most basic components of this disobedience is an unwillingness to separate from evil. Or, to say it another way, to separate ourselves unto Him.

Christian Intellectual Idolatry

Hand Flicking Man

Just a note on something I saw the other evening on an internet news site.

There was a chart showing which groups formed the highest percentage of those supporting a particular candidate for governor.

What struck me were the 4 groups singled out that supported this candidate. I fit into all four groups. Although I can only remember 3 of them now, they were as follows:

  • White Evangelicals
  • White Men without a College Degree
  • White Seniors

Yoo Hoo! I wonder if there is some kind of prize I’ve won for fitting into all these groups?!

I’ll bet it’s a really special prize!!

What is the Lord’s Priority?

wolf in sheeps clothingFor do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ? (Galatians 1:10)

Is the Lord’s first priority the salvation of lost souls?

Or has He established a greater ministry than evangelism?

Or does He allow us to do whatever is necessary to win people to Christ?

To Be Like Christ

Potter and Bowl

Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.” (I John 4:17-18)

What an amazing passage this is!

It speaks of the end of fear and then makes another amazing statement.

That we are like Christ in this world.

But what does that mean?

How can that be?!

The Uncertain Evangelical Gospel: Conclusion – The Total Sufficiency of Christ

lion and lamb

Either a man believes that he is worthy to stand before God based on something within himself OR he rejects any hope in himself and casts his faith upon the total sufficiency of Christ.

Salvation, in a nutshell, really boils down to this.

To Love in the Truth

Night Sky Flashlight

The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth; and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth: for the truth’s sake, which dwelleth in us, and shall be with us for ever.” (II John 1:1-2)

The Evangelical church is known for its emphasis on “love”. Whatever love may mean.

Emphasizing whatever popular Humanistic and Progressive concepts about love that the Christian academics are feeding the leadership of our local churches. As they call Christians to be activists and socially-engaged Christians.

All in the name of “love.

And, while that observation may sound cynical, the reality is, there is no real way to define love.

Along with that emphasis on love is a great resistance to place any boundaries or limits on what love actually allows us to do. And not do.

Instead, love has become a kind of excuse that is used whenever there is any argument that involves truth or doctrine.

Love is used as an excuse to shut down any debate or concern over whether we are teaching and believing what the Bible actually says. Whether we are truly following the specific things Jesus actually taught us to believe.

The Uncertain Evangelical Gospel: Part 2 – What Must We Believe to be Saved?

Cross Pray Purple silhouette

Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” (Galatians 3:6)

The Salvation that Jesus Christ offers to men is based upon faith in His finished work.

That faith is based upon very specific Truths about Jesus Christ.

These truths are found in very specific written words. Those words are inspired of God. They are inerrant, complete, accurate, and sufficient for a man to know the way of Eternal Life.

When a man believes what God has said in His word, repents of his sins, and places His faith in the sufficiency of Jesus Christ, he is saved. He passes from death to life.

The Uncertain Evangelical Gospel

Road Question Mark

The current shift from faith in truth to faith in ones outward good works is based on a rejection of written truth.

Specifically, on the written words of God.

The Beginning of Knowledge

Tyrannosaurus Skeleton Mouth

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.” (Proverbs 1:7)

This verse surprised me.

I’ve read through Proverbs many times in my life. But I’ve always thought it only said, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.” Which it does, in fact, say in Proverbs 9.

But, the fear of the LORD also applies to knowledge. Which touches on a whole different kind of understanding.

And it occurred to me that all the hoopla that men have for the pursuit of science, is based on a false premise.

Which is, that the pursuit of knowledge, or science, is the same as the pursuit of Truth. Truth that encompasses physical reality. Or all that is true about the natural world.
